For almost three decades, the Galeries Lafayette Berlin department store in Friedrichstrasse presented a high-quality range of fashion, cosmetics, accessories and international delicacies.
Please note: The French department store chain Galeries Lafayette closed its branch on Friedrichstraße at the end of July 2024. The striking five-storey building was opened in 1996. It is not yet known who will move into the property in the future.
Galeries Lafayette in Berlin was a branch of the luxurious Parisian department store and was located in the City East at Friedrichstraße corner Französische Straße. The building is highly visible: Its modern glass façade distinguishes it from the other buildings around. From the beginning on, Galeries Lafayette focused on high-fashion clothes especially from France but also from international brands.
Besides clothings Galeries Lafayette also provided a large array of international beauty products. It also had a gourmet department in the basement. The several shops and restaurants focused on delicacies from France such as the famous pastry macarons but also fine wines and cheese. Next to the gourmet department visitors found the "Librairie Francaise", a bookshop with books in the French language.
