The Pergamon Museum houses three museums: the Collection of Classical Antiquities, the Museum of the Ancient Near East and the Museum of Islamic Art and displays works of art from Greek and Roman antiquity.
The Pergamon Museum is expected to be completely closed to visitors until 2027 as part of the basic renovation of the museum. In spring 2027, the first parts, such as the hall with the Pergamon Altar, should be accessible again. The Asisi Panorama will remain open.
The Pergamon Museum is one of Berlin's "must see" museums. It was built between 1910 and 1930 by Ludwig Hoffmann, based on the designs of Alfred Messel, as the last of the five museum buildings. Designed as a three-wing complex, the Pergamon today houses three museums: the Collection of Classical Antiquities with the architecture halls and the sculpture wing, the Museum of the Ancient Near East and the Museum of Islamic Art.
Impressive exhibits await visitors of the Pergamon Museum, who can prepare themselves for a veritable journey into the past. The Great Altar of Pergamon, the magnificent Babylonian Processional Way, the façade of the Caliph's Palace of Mshatta and the Market Gate of Miletus are just a few of the highlights on display that have helped the Pergamon Museum achieve international recognition.
